The challenge was to create an editorial book-object inspired by Joan Didion's essay Goodbye to All That, in which she reflects on her time spent in New York.
Through 21 personal collages, each assigned to a moment in the essay, I tried to translate her words into visual abstract reflections on the passage of time and the constant rush of the city.
The piece is housed in a handmade cardboard box with an hourglass-shaped cutout (referring to the concept of time), holding both the collage booklet and a smaller booklet containing the essay.
